Full Harvest Blog

SAN FRANCISCO, April 28, 2020—today, Full Harvest was named to the 2020 Fast Company World Changing Ideas list, winning the food category out of a record 3,000+ entries for the company’s innovative model working to solve the world’s leading contributor to climate change: food waste.

A recently updated report by Project Drawdown found that reducing food waste is the number one, most impactful solution to keeping the Earth below two degrees Celsius. Full Harvest is focused on rescuing the billions of pounds of imperfect and surplus produce -- one-third of all edible yields (ReFED) -- that go to waste at the farm level each year simply because they do not meet strict cosmetic retail standards. Through its online marketplace, the company helps growers capture new revenue opportunities by connecting them directly with processors and food and beverage brands who benefit from sourcing sustainable produce, often at a lower cost.

“Being part of Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas list this year is validation for the hard work of our incredibly talented team and their dedication to our mission to empower sustainability where the food supply chain begins -- at the farm,” said Christine Moseley, Founder and CEO of Full Harvest. “My vision is a world where there is zero food waste and 100 percent ‘full harvests,’ where all edible produce grown goes towards consumption. We are proud and honored to be recognized alongside other innovative problem-solvers and disruptors working to create a better, more sustainable and equitable world.”

Food waste is top of mind for consumers with a recent report by New Hope Network NEXT finding that ‘Waste Reduction’ is the top consumer trend driving the market.  Some of the world’s most respected food and beverage brands are now partnering with Full Harvest to take part in this growing market opportunity, while helping to reduce climate change.

Full Harvest was also recently recognized as a World Economic Forum Tech Pioneer and one of Forbes’ Most Innovative Agtech Startups
